About Me
Recent graduate of DeSales University with a degree in communication, which now sits on my bookcase and laughs at me.
I spent a lot of my time in college involved with the campus radio station, where I hosted shows on a variety of topics including sports, 90s music & pro wrestling.
With The Melting Pat I attempt to bring all of those shows together into one concoction, a gumbo if you will. I hope to have a little something for everyone, with both my music choices & discussion topics.

Hello friend!
Thank you so much for joining me this evening! I hope you enjoyed the show as I continued with the shorter, more frequent breaks. I think this is better for me and for you: neither of us will fall asleep!
I also hope that you are safe from the fumes if you live here in Bristol, and that you keep calm when doing your last-minute shopping! And if you're in Fort Lee, New Jersey, stop and finish your text - 85 dollars is a lot of money for some!
Finally, I hope to post the full list of artists at the Made in America Festival Labor Day weekend on this page, so check back on May 21! And quit throwing cookies!

Killswitch Engage Seeks New Singer
Posted on 09 Jan 2012
Hey all,
I realize it's probably a few days old by now, but I just saw the news that Howard Jones has left Killswitch Engage, one of my favorite bands. A shame to see him go, as he brought so much energy (and a lot more) to every record, but he has apparently been through a lot personally so it is for the better.
The band has said they will continue without him, a noble but undoubtedly tough decision. No one can truly be "replaced" in a band, but I do believe they - KSE or any band - can be successful following a membership change (Incubus, for example). Whether or not the success continues is anyone's guess, but I'm excited to hear what comes next.
I'll certainly miss Howard's incredible screaming and range on the next record(s), but I'll always have the songs he's done. Like this (my favorite song from the band):
Thanks for coming to the table, friends. Enjoy the rest of your day! Crap open a cold one!
Cheers!
Eddie Murphy - Party All the Time

Love this video. So simple. So entertaining. Enjoy!

Hello my friend!
Thanks for tuning in today. I hope you had fun. I also hope you are one of many finally happy with a Netflix decision, and that you will get small bills before you shop!
Just a reminder: If you have a request for a song or segment, I'd love to hear it! You can contact me on Facebook, Twitter (both pjohns2010) or via the Requests tab on Party934.com. I will do my best!

Hello, devoted listener!
Thank you so much for tuning in again this week. I hope you had as much fun as I did, and that you'll count your items before hitting the express lane.
I did find out after the show (thanks, Mom) that Walmart cashiers are not allowed to tell people to leave the line, so it falls on the shopper. Get to it!
I know I said I like to keep wrestling talk to a minimum for the benefit of those who find it boring, but I always look for a way to keep it interesting to them by relating it to a news story. Success once again! Save the Simpsons!
Also I hope you enjoyed my surprise throwback, I got a lot of positive feedback for that song, so maybe I will return to the genre in the future. I always take requests as well!
Again, I hope you didn't get too upset over my baseball picks and again I hope I'm right!
Here are the songs & topics from The Melting Pat Episode 15 - Get Out of the Express Lane, There's More Baseball to Watch!:
Halestorm - I Get Off
Beavis & Butthead theme
Topic/Retail story: Using the Express Lane with Way Too Many Items

Hello there!
We returned to normal this week, with a boatload of discussion and sweet tunes. Hope you had fun and learned to watch your Facebook posts. You don't want to be costing teams wins like that mom in Tennessee, do you?
As will be the case for the next few weeks, the last half of the show was all MLB playoffs. I hope you didn't get too mad with my predictions (and I hope I'm right!).

Hello friend!
Thank you for tuning in today. As always, I appreciated the feedback on the discussions. They are much more interesting that way. Thanks especially to Eric and Tom for providing feedback during my retail story, and to Tom for sticking around throughout the show!

Hello all!
Thanks so much for tuning in today. I hope you had as much fun as I did. As always I appreciated the IMs & texts (even though I got them late). I love when you add to my discussions. Cannot wait to see what next week brings, especially if Tom and Brian are both listening live.
And Brian, just because a QB is ringless does not mean he is not talented. Dan Marino is still considered one of the best ever, and Peyton Manning would still be even if he had not won, just to cite two examples. Also smart phones are useful (I never said the contrary) I just have no need for one, which was the whole point of the discussion.
As usual, here are the playlist and topics from The Melting Pat Episode 11 - I Don't Need Your Dumb Phone:
Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea (For Tim; Allentown, PA)
Intro bed: Beavis & Butthead theme
Topic: Retail story - Digging for Cash at the Register

Intro bed: A Perfect Circle - Passive
Topic: NFL News - Vick extension/backlash
Foster/MRI/Bruschi
Featured bed: NFL on FOX theme
G. Love and Special Sauce - Cold Beverage
Thanks again for coming to the table. I hope you join the feast next week. Remember if you missed any part of the show, or want to hear it again, check out the Podcasts page on this site (right up there above the NEWS section).

The Melting Pat Episode 7
Posted on 05 Aug 2011
Hey friends!
Thanks for tuning in today. I hope you enjoyed the show. It is one I have wanted to do for a while, and may do again sometime in the future as I have plenty more acoustic tracks to play.
That future playlist could include one of my own songs if the demand is there. Remember the only rule: ten unique requests, not the same person ten times. If you would like me to attempt a cover, include it in the request (and I will give it my best shot). If you want to hear one of my originals, I will gladly send you a track!
Also, I would like to send one more shoutout to my boss. Pete, while I may not have known you long, you were still a wonderful person and I am privileged to have known and gotten to work with you. The store will not be the same without your humor, charm and good nature. I (and certainly everyone else!) am going to miss you, buddy. Our interactions were probably the most enjoyable part of my job. Best wishes to you, and I hope our paths cross again someday!
And without further ado, here is the playlist from today. This was Episode 7 - The All Acoustic Hour:
Breaking Benjamin - So Cold
Rise Against - Swing Life Away
Sugarcult - Memory

Better Drivers: City Taxi or City Bus?
Posted on 20 Jul 2011
Hello, Listenerland!
Something I was thinking about on my way home from work earlier: I take the bus, and have a firm belief that these drivers are among the best in dealing with & adapting to their surroundings & situations (even though the surroundings are often the same).
I was having a conversation with a fellow regular about this who used to live in New York. He said while the bus drivers there [and here - Philadelphia area] are very good at adapting, they don't hold a candle to cab drivers.
I have taken a taxi a few times (certainly less often than the bus) and almost agree. Right now though I'm going with bus drivers, mainly because I've never been worried about getting into an accident while riding the bus.
What do you think, friends? Is this even a fair comparison to make? Should I stop talking to random people on the bus? Does anyone even use taxis or buses?
Thinking of turning this into a discussion topic for the show if I get some differing opinions. I will definitely give you an on-air shout out so let me have it!
Cheers!

Hello, friends!
Today begins what I hope will be a fun, entertaining show. With The Melting Pat I aim to play the biggest rock/pop/metal/whatever songs from the first decade of the new millennium (the "00s").
I will also attempt to discuss a variety of topics ranging from my adventures in retail to professional wrestling, and many things in between.
I will mostly use this blog to post my playlist, but will try to post relevant links/videos and whatnot as well.
I hope you will join me today at 4PM Eastern and that you enjoy the ride with me!
Cheers!
